We get just a little bit of snow and the Empire just can't wait to try to strike back. Where are the Rebels when you need them.

Well all know that holidays are stressful enough, but when Murphy's Law plays its hand it could suck the cheer right out of the holidays. Here some helpful tips to help you stay festive.

A while ago I posted Battle of the Spices gathering some of the cooler parody of the Old Spice guy commericals. Today I stumble upon the obvious winner...obvious due mainly for my love for all things Muppets. I present for you viewing pleasure "Smell Like a Monster"

As a fan of the "Old Spice Guy" commericals, I thought that parodies just wouldn't be able to live up to the humour o the orignal. Well here are two examples I feel that did..

I think I've stated this before in reference to a Star Wars Lego piece, but I wish I had the free time and ability to pull something like this off.
Kudos to the creator..

The New York Public Library asked  improv group Improv Everywhere to recreate Ghostbusters to bring awareness massive budget cut.  The stunt was staged at the library's request, but few know what was going on, including security. The library was featured in the Ghostbusters movie, as the location the group first real ghost sighting. To learn more about the NYPL efforts check http://dontclosethebook.nypl.org/

PVP - Scat Fight

Don't know why but this episode, for me, didn't capture the same energy as the previous ones did. It seemed to be a standard alien abduction, but "the evidence for the girl just running away is overwhelming but.."type case. If there were any Scully / Mulder moments they where unmemorable at best. I can say I found myself wondering where I had seen this character or that, instead of following the plot. I know they all can't be winners so I press on...

If you like comics and like to listen to podcasts, you should really give " Tom vs. The Flash" a listen. Tom Katers gives us a brief, but hilarious, panel by panel review of D.C.'s The Flash. He lovely points out the goofy and sometimes down right absurdity that were Silver Age comics. Give it a search in iTunes and you wont be disappointed.

Tom vs. The Flash - The blog

Where last episode, I felt, was somewhat lacking. This one picked it up an brought it very close to the pilot level.
I thought the premise was pretty cool. I genetic mutant that a could stretch his body to fit through stight spaces. Spaces like duct works and such to gain entry and like people...for there livers. Yummy.
I even like the way that they "tested" Scully. Where an agent she went to the academy with offers here a chance to leave "Spooky" Mulder and his X-Files behind and join his team. It was even more awesome when Fox shuts down the people that dont care for him that much, with a big old smile on this face.
In the end Scully and Mulder solve the case. Tell the old friend to go pound sand. All in all an enjoyable episode.

Inflated and unsubstantiated claims of lose, and now inaccurate accusations of piracy.... How can this issue be take seriously anymore...

Canadians drop gloves, punch US in face over piracy list

Episode two, while I found it enjoyable I didn't feel it that the same punch as the pilot. I thought about this for awhile and then it came to me. The pilot has to have punch. It is the seller and the future rides on it.
This one at first appears to be about alien abduction again. Soon we come to find that it is less about the unknown and more about what's being hidden. We also see the shadowy government is ready to play hard ball if need be.
In the end it had the good character moments that I remember from watching in the part and even a guest appearance by Seth Green

I have always been a fan of the Robin Hood legend. I like Prince of Thieves, even if Kevin Costner sounds not at all English. This looks awesome!!

Robin Hood trailer

Now I can't remember if I watched this episode when it first aired. Watching it again I am still not sure. That being said it was good.
I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was nice to see that the chemistry between Scully and Mulder was there from the very beginning. One of things that surprised me was that Scully didn't come off as the "everything you say is BS" type that she is usually parodied as. That being said Mulder seemed quite over the top at times, but it work because Duchovny is so likable as Mulder that the over acting, conspiracy talk is almost endearing .
If I had to find one complaint it was the effects. They were very date. Not that there were many in this episode but there was a whirlwind in the first few minutes that slapped you in the face. Easily forgiven thought.
One of the things I really like, and only noticed because I am familiar with the shows mythology, where little touch that are part of something later. Or instance, The Smoking Man, who seemed like a smaller fish then he is revealed to be later. Also Mulder's oral fixation, this time in the form of sunflower seeds.
Episode one was a good start. For the show on the whole and for this little project on which I am embarking. Looking forward to episode two.

... there is a scene that screams Twin Peaks. Fans of the show that re-watch this will know exactly what I am talking about.

Recently I noticed that Netflix streaming has made available the entire series of the X-Files. This was a show I remember liking but only in an "on and off" basis. So I have decided to watch it all from beginning to end and chronicle my thoughts on it. Starting this evening with episode one and seeing where it goes from here.

Some how I am saddened that it isn't a Delorean. I am still holding out hope that it is a telephone booth with a broken antenna....

...its just taking longer.

The MPAA and RIAA are asking for Federal law enforcement to take a more active roll in policing piracy of music and movies. They are calling for the government to mandate that spyware secretly be placed on computers to monitor for copyrighted material, border search of data storage devices, and the FBI and DHS provide copyright enforcement. Everybody grab you bottle of Victory gin and pack of Victory cigarettes. FREEDOM IS SLAVERY

I mean really now they can make themselves. Find a label on that thing and I bet it says Skynet...
